This inaugural urban retreat with Fuyuko Toyota will focus on using meditation for Inner Wellbeing, Resilience & Welcoming Difficult Feelings & Emotions. Meditation is a practice that many of us find difficult to start and apply to our daily life. This weekend retreat will focus on a mixture of direct experience of practices as well as teachings simple, yet powerful tools, derived from an evidence-based iRest® Meditation. You will come away deeply relaxed & rejuvenated, and with useful tools for managing daily stress or powerful emotions in a safe and non-judgemental way.
iRest meditation is designed to bring the healing benefits of yogic and meditative practices to a wide variety of people. It can be practiced by anyone, regardless of whether you are a lifelong meditator or if you have never tried meditation before.
By practicing iRest regularly - a little and often - you can tap into the parts of your brain that allow for greater insight and quiet the parts of the brain that are responsible for negative thoughts, feelings, and sensations. Using iRest, people learn to welcome life as it is happening and to respond - not react - to challenging situations.
iRest can work to alleviate stress, help us sleep better, and heal unresolved issues and traumas. It can also allow us recognize an underlying peace of mind that is always present within us - no matter what circumstances we are facing in life.

One of the most unique components of iRest is actually engaging with, rather than simply observing emotions. Being able to welcome whatever arises in a place of open curiosity and equanimity, is an art that will serve you throughout your life. The practices in this session will help you cultivate an unshakable foundation of resilience.
WHAT IS THIS URBAN RETREAT FOR?
Anybody is welcome to join this class. No meditation experience or knowledge is needed. You may find this workshop particularly useful if you have are working with powerful emotions. Or have found other meditation techniques difficult.
Yoga teachers, therapists and psychologists with an interest in yoga therapy or using meditation techniques for trauma will find the workshop beneficial in gaining some basic knowledge of the iRest® protocol and trainings.
ABOUT YOUR TEACHERS

Each day will start with a breathing practice, mindful movement and a guided meditation practice suitable for all levels of experience. There will also be a mindful movement practice in the afternoon. Please bring your own yoga mat and a small pillow, blanket and eye cushion to make yourself comfortable and a notebook for journaling.
Lunch will be 12-1.30pm on both days and is not included.

I've had the privilege of attending mutiple retreats with Fuyuko and they have transformed my life.
